Monahan, a retired New York City police lieutenant, lives next door to the Farina family.

He was a Rockland County corrections officer. His wife, Jennifer, 42, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday and the investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
